Breakfast

Optional Cheorwon DMZ Tour
After an early breakfast, depart for the Cheorwon region and its little-known section of the DMZ. On the way, visit a crane protection center dedicated to species conservation. Participants will then have the opportunity to admire the beauty of typically Korean landscapes as they pass through the surrounding rice fields.
The journey continues to the DMZ, the impermeable buffer zone marking the separation between the two Koreas. Rich in history, the demilitarized zone is also a sanctuary for the peninsula’s flora and fauna, as no humans have stepped foot there in over 70 years.
Upon arrival, explore the "second tunnel," secretly excavated by the North Korean army and discovered in 1975 by service guards. It is now completely safe and has small exhibition rooms about the war.
Next, visit the Cheorwon Peace Observatory, offering a panoramic view of the DMZ and the first villages in North Korea. Inside, there is a small museum and a short film detailing the war and its impact on Cheorwon.
The tour continues to the abandoned Woljeong-ri train station (the Iron Triangle battlefield), the last stop before the fence marking the exit from the DMZ.
The morning concludes with an exploration of the headquarters of the Workers' Party of Korea, an old Communist Party stronghold (under renovation until mid-2025).
Then, we will visit the Baek Ma battle memorial, known as the "White Horse." This site commemorates the notable intervention of a French UN battalion during the fighting.
Participants will then have the chance to visit a small workshop where "Makgeolli" is made and, if desired, taste this delicious rice alcohol.
